Pitching wins in the Postseason, but our offense still has to put you ahead on the scoreboard. The Yankees squeaked by Baltimore to win the Division Series. They were 2 blown saves by Jim Johnson and a couple Raul Ibanez home runs away from a first round defeat. They were swept by Detroit in the American League Championship Series, (ALCS) primarily because their bats went cold. I have never seen so many good hitters all go cold at once. A-Rod (3-23 in Postseason), Swisher (4-26), Cano (3-36), Texiera (9-29) and Granderson (3-29) couldn't hit a ball placed if it was placed on a tee for them. Texiera has never hit in the Postseason but his glove partly makes up for it, who knows what happened to Cano he's an All-Star who just went cold, same with Granderson, Swisher has not been a great Postseason hitter either and fans can say whatever they want but he won't be back with them next year, A-Rod has worn out his welcome here and after being benched a couple times in the Postseason I think he can come back, if he and the organization work things out to make sure all the bad blood is gone, next year but they have to try and get rid of him. At the beginning of the season all the talk was do they have enough pitching the offense wasn't supposed to be the problem, well some where along the line things got crossed because there was nothing wrong with the pitching. There has been nothing wrong with they're pitching, Sabathia, Pettitte, Kuroda and Hughes all gave really good pitching performances, their bullpen was good to. When you have good pitching your offense has to back it up and that didn't happen with the Yankees. Tell it like it is, this Postseason loss is on the offense not the pitching and not the injuries.
Spring Training is just around the corner, Rivera and Jeter will be back. They have some decisions to make before then though pitching is always a must. There are a lot of decisions to be made on free-agents, thats a lot of the team. In all likelihood Nick Swisher has played his last game with New York, he's a good regular season hitter but can't produce in October and has now burned bridges with fans. Alex Rodriguez has been benched and pinch hit for this Postseason, he has lost his ability to hit a lot which forced his managers hand. I think A-Rod can come back, I don't think he's burned to many bridges but if some one will take his contract, it would be better to get him out of town. The Yankees might have to eat a hefty sum of the remaining years and money on the contract. At this point it would be not be a bad idea to cut their losses. Cano, Martin, Pettitte and Rivera are some others. Spring Training is right around the corner, but they have decisions to make before then.
