Joe Paterno (Penn State)

In a story thats been getting national attention, and rightly so Penn State University was forced to make some necessary changes. In the aftermath of what has become a uneasy situation at PSU,  the board of directors meet last night to discuss the situation.  Joe Paterno who has been the head coach there since 1966, announced earlier in the day that he would step down at seasons end.  As much as I like Joe Pa and what he has done at PSU, stepping down when the season ended in three months (after the final three regular season games and a bowl game) wasn't going to stop the bleeding.  The board of directors did what they had to do, in firing the university's president and football coach Paterno.  Joe just wanted to put what would've been a tourniquet on the situation and the board stepped in.  Now that Joe Pa is gone and will not be coaching Saturday against Nebraska, assistant coach Mike McQueary
